Activities on Knoydart
Find out some of the interesting and exciting things you can get up to during your visit to our peaceful and beautiful Knoydart Peninsula...
If you love wildlife, you'll be in your element here!
Minke Whale and several dolphin species can be sighted off the coast and porpoises regularly accompany vessels on the crossing between Mallaig and Inverie.
We see common and grey seals and a wide variety of birds including red-throated and great northern divers, whooper swan, eider, merganser, goosander and lots of waders. You're almost certain to see red deer here, but you might have to look a bit harder for golden eagle, otter and pine marten.
We can arrange a boat-charter for whale-watching, or drop you off for a day of bird-watching on land. You could then make your own way back to Inverie or ask us to pick you up later. The choice is yours!
Camping in the Wilderness
Wild Camping in a remote place like Knoydart is an experience that you'll never forget. Far from the noise of civilisation, the only sounds you'll hear will be natural ones... and, if the night sky is clear, you'll see a million stars. Seize your chance to escape the stress of daily life and rediscover the things that really matter.
If this appeals to you, just pack your tent and some essentials (be prepared for all-weather in the Highlands!) We'll take you to your chosen spot along the coast and pick you up the next day.
Please respect the environment and read the Wild Camping Code of Conduct before you go. More information can be found at http://www.outdooracess-scotland.com/ or by contacting the Mountaineering Council of Scotland on 01738 493942.
